Post by MalcolmB »

Harefield Marafun Canoe Races
Second Sunday of the Winter Months at Noon.
The Race has three distances: 6.4 miles for racing boats; 3.4 miles for other boats or less experienced paddlers and 1.2 miles for beginners. The 1.2 mile race starts and finishes below the bridge at Coppermill Lock, opposite the Coy Carp and has no portages. Location on Google Maps, for Sat Nav users the post code is: UB9 6HZ and is with easy access from the M25 (J17). – Same location as the Harefield Slalom.
The other two races start and finish above the mill stream adding a bit of excitement to the more experienced paddlers and the spectators!
Paddlers new to the series can either estimate their time or start at the beginning of the session.
Entries cost just £2.00 per person, new paddlers always welcome, no need to pre-enter just turn up at the Coy Carp and enter on the day.

You are paddling along the Grand Union Canal and it is sheltered from the wind.
A path runs along side the length of the canal.
I am planing to attend this race so if you require a kayak taken down or a lift then please let me know.

If you wish to take part in this event then please remember to book out any club equipment with Adrian Boyce – The club equipment officer.
