I am planning to go to this event on the 15th May. If anyone else would like to attend and try racing down the Nene then please come along. (You do not have to use a Wavehopper if you are not happy with them).
As the information below says the Nene event is part of the Youth series and Wavehopper series.
Nene Wild Water Race

The Sharks are organising the Nene 1 Wild Water Race on Sunday 15th May 2011.
The Race is part of the Wavehopper series and is also a Division B and Open event and Regional event.
Due to the construction of the construction of the course it is not possible for composite Wild Water Racers to get down the course without damage. There will be a number of Wavehopper boats available for paddlers to borrow.

Entries will cost £5 for under 18s and £8 for seniors.
Each competitor will do two runs down the course, for the Div B, Open and Regional event, the times are added together. For the Wavehopper Challenge the best time is used.
Timetable
Control will be open from 9:00am in the cafe area.
The course will be available for practice from 10:00am. Complete runs only, all paddlers must have booked in before paddling on the course.
The event will begin at noon, with second runs at 1:00pm (this may vary depending on entries).
Time permitting their maybe a team event afterwards.

Each paddler will earn points, the higher up the ranking a paddler comes the more points they will earn for the club shield, so the more paddlers your club gets to the event the better chance you have of winning, but you still have to paddle fast!
