I am organising another trip from Oare across The Swale to Harty then down Faversham Creek hopefully to spot some seals.

Timetable.
Meet at boathouse at 8.30.
Load boats and leave by 9.00.
Arrive at Oare car park, Church Road, Oare ME13 0QA ( 42 miles. Free but NO toilets) at 10.15.
This is a small car park so please keep cars to a minimum.
Launch at 11.00.
Paddle across The Swale to Harty and paddle against the tide for a mile or so.
We then cross back over The Swale to Horse Sands to look for seals and wildlife, then into Faversham Creek and paddle to the Town Quay for lunch.
High Water is at 14:04.
We leave soon after and return to Oare by 15.30
I hope to return to the boathouse by 17.30.

This 10 mile trip involves paddling across the tide and for a short time, against it; therefore paddlers should be of a 2* standard.
This is an inter-club trip with our friends from Bewl Water and Maidstone Canoe Clubs.

Details of previous trips can be found at

Bit of a low turnout for this trip but was joined by Steve, Jon and Alan from Bewl Water CC so we had a good safe number.
After launching and crossing The Swale we returned to the south side of Horse Sands to find seals basking.

As we made our way to the entrance of Faversham Creek, the wind rose creating challenging paddling which we all dealt with (this is why I ask paddlers to be of a 2* standard on such trips).

Once in the creek, we were sheltered from the wind in much calmer waters.

As we continued up the creek I could smell wood burning then see smoke.

I believe this was the 'pirate' ship Revenge.

Continued to the end of the creek and had lunch with plenty of discussion about what we might expect with the wind on the return.

The wind never did return and we had a calm journey back to Oare.

Thanks Tim, for this fantastic day!
It was a challenge but very rewarding with the seals bobbing up and down not far from us.
