3* Touring Course.

Maidstone Canoe Club are running a 3* Touring Course on July 16th & 23rd (Sundays).

The course will cover:-

Lifting, carrying and launching
Efficient paddling forwards, backwards and turning
Moving sideways more effectively
Support strokes, preventing a capsize
Dealing with the environment; wind, current etc
Peer and self rescues
Towing
Risk management and awareness of others
Other theory such as: equipment, first aid, access, planning, navigation, etiquette etc.
the courses will run on Sunday 0930 to 1630 training and Sunday 0930 to 1630 assessment.

Pre-requisites

For the training alone participants must either hold the 2 Star award or be at that level and be a minimum age of 14. If you wish to pass The course over the weekend you will need to have evidence of at least 3 different flat-water journeys of about 3 hours duration (10km) each with at least one of these in an open water environment. And also provide evidence of at least one session of about 3 hours duration in an alternative discipline.
