As we will be a large party, please bring a packed lunch.
I'll be at the lake tomorrow to answer any questions you may have.

You're very welcome.
Have you got transport and most importantly, roof bars?

I can fit people into cars, it's transporting boats that's the problem.
Hello there, I have a car and roof bars.

Tim & Others,

I am unfortunately unable to come on this trip now. Have an enjoyable paddle.

Despite problems with the M20 motorway being closed, we arrived on time at Grove Ferry and soon after launch was over taken by what looked like the boat from film, The Africa Queen..

..but without Humphrey Bogart at the helm.

This was Murray's first tidal trip

and the route was simple to follow except for Julia who missed her sat-nav

The weather was varied; started with being overcast with light showers but the wind was persistent particularly when we reached the tidal lake with the wind creating rolling waves onto the river.
Image

Once we passed the lake, the river changed.
It became very clear but with the flow against us.
Appears the incoming tide flows into the lake with very little taking us onto Fordwich.

As with previous trip, it was hard work against the flow and soon the welcoming sight of Fordwich Church spire was in sight.

We found the very place to stop for lunch.

After lunch we headed under the bridge

and then started the return back to Grove Ferry in the incredibly clear water.

However once we passed the tidal lake, the river returned to grey green colour.

Successful trip but I was left wondering; is the Kentish Stour the home of a past paddler's ghost ?
