Thames Trip (Laleham to Walton Bridge) Saturday 6th Septembe

Post by Paul Winslow »

We are planning to paddle about 5 miles on the Thames in Surrey from Laleham to Walton Bridge on Saturday 6th September.

We will meet at 10:30am by the river in the car park in front of the Pavilion at Laleham Park Sports Ground. The adjacent camp site has the Post Code TW18 1SS for those of you using Streetmap or a Satnav!

The stretch of river we will be paddling is flat but includes the locks at Chertsey and Shepperton. We may be able to shoot the weir at Chertsey and play there for a while so you will need to bring a helmet. After running the shuttle, the trip should take us around 3 to 4 hours depending how much we stop and / or play along the way.

Licences are required to paddle this stretch of river. These are available at the locks for £6.50 per boat. Individual BCU members will not need to pay this as membership includes a licence to paddle on the Thames.

If the weather is good we would like to finish with a picnic at Walton. However, you may also wish to bring snacks and something to drink along the way.

Please let us know if you are interested in joining us and if you need any more information, please give us a call.
