My boyfriend is interested in trying canoeing, but is not a strong swimmer. Will this prevent him from joining? Are there any age restrictions to joining - he is 53. Finally, what equipment would he need if any?

Hi there,
There's no upper age restriction at meridian, if there was we'd have to retire the whole committee :D
Its not a worry that he's not a strong swimmer, we have PFD's (life jackets) available at the lake on Saturday mornings and plenty of hands at the pool sessions on weds and thurs nights, feel free to pop down and have a chat and paddle, the sessions at the lake are free and the pool sessions are £6 (£5 for members).
As for kit, just a towel and some stuff that you don't mind getting wet, but no jeans, we can rustle up a waterproof cag if its a bit chilly along with all other equipment needed.

Hope to see you both soon

Tim
