Following last year's successful and popular trip, we intend to do this same this year using the same timetable and logistics (transport) as last year.
Members should be of a 1* standard.

I would like to make final plans for The Cam trip which are based on Paul Winslow's sucessful trip last year.

This trip is open to all members who have completed Meridian's Beginners' Course, have the stamina for 3 hours causal paddling and can avoid both fast moving rowing boats and unpredictable punts!

What to bring:-
Boat, paddle, buoyancy aid (to be worn at all times when on water) & spray deck.
If you need to use club equipment, please book at:-
viewtopic.php?f=39&t=1648

Personal Clothing:-
As for the lake if the weather is hot and sunny - shorts, T shirt and old trainers are fine. You may also want to bring some sun block.
If the weather is cool and/or wet you will need a cagoule and maybe something warmer than a T shirt (e.g. a fleece top).
Several thin layers are better than one thick one. A hat is also a good idea - a cap if it’s sunny, or a fleece or woolly hat if it’s cold. Don’t forget to bring a towel and dry clothes to change into at the end of the trip.

Food:-
Please bring a picnic lunch, snacks for the trip if you’d like them, and plenty to drink. You’ll need to carry this in your boat so you may want to find yourself a waterproof bag or container. Don’t forget money for ice creams!

All club boats must be disinfected before leaving the lake.
If you can store boats safely at home, please collect your boat on the Saturday and go straight to Cambridge on Sunday.
This will save time at the boathouse on Sunday morning.

Timetable:-
I will open the boathouse at 8:15 on Sunday to collect and load boats.
We must leave by 9:00.

It is a 75 mile/ approx 90 minutes journey to Fen Road (by Fallowfield), Cambridge, CB4 1PB.

We meet at 10:30
Launch time 11:00.

I do not intend to stop for an evening meal and will return straight to unlock the boathouse so club boats can be returned.

The nearest toilets are to the launching point are:-
Chesterton Recreation Ground, Church Road, CB4 1ED
Tesco at the junction of A14/A10, CB24 6AY

Also at Jesus Lock and Lammas Park where we stop for lunch.

Please let me know:-
Who is going?
Are you using your own equipment or club's (please book at above link)?
Do you have your own transport (ie roof bars and straps to carry boats)?
Do you have space places for other boat(s) and/or member(s)?
Given the parking problems in Cambridge, I want to keep cars to a minimum.

I will be at the club’s AGM on Monday 24th June and would like to hold a very brief planning meeting afterwards to answer any questions you may have or post your questions here or speak to me at the lake on Saturday mornings.
