I plan on getting a Canche trip together next year, probably spring time, it'll be a two day trip (sat/sun) by ferry to calais and a shortish drive the other side, its a nice enough stretch of river, mostly flat with a couple of bumpy bits and an over night camp (I know this rules out a couple of people but this isn't the womens auxillary balloon corps).
A nice trip report here:

Feign some interest here to give me some idea of numbers :ugeek:

Woodham Ferrers to Battlesbridge in Essex (tidal).

May I point out to members the importance of 'Even more fun is to explore the Barge Inn (draught beers include Adnams Broadside,
Courage Directors and Charles Wells Bombardier)
...'

This must go to the top of any wish list.

I would like to join the Canche trip , Tim. The guide says about 4 hours , so is the overnight stop just to enjoy French wine and food?

Kathryne has asked me, sorry ordered me, to suggest The Royal Military Canal for Sunday 5th May.
Details of trip at:-

and
http://www.paddlepoints.net/Water.aspx? ... aterId=266
and why it was dug

Having looked into it a little more the overnight stop is at the end of the first section, theres more to do after the section shown, a bit flatter but slightly better scenery.
Obviously this then lends itself to the van campers as they can use the same site.
Four hours? maybe if you got your socks on, but if its a meridian trip then we shouldn't break with tradition and should aim for 6 hours and miss

I'd be interested in a trip to Scotland but can I suggest deferring until April or even May. I took a look at the Glenmorre Lodge calendar they don't run any paddling course until April.

In March there are courses on avalanche avoidance........

Why 5th May Tim or Kathryne ? Is there another "organised" trip for that date?

Andy

Could be interested.

Tim
I understand the reasoning. I am guessing that this trip would sit open boats rather than kayaks.

I am up for it , whether in a tandem open boat or solo kayak, not sure my open boating is up to solo on grade II.

Regards

Andy

We could always combine it with a swimathon.
