Hi, I'll be running a trip from Tonbridge to Yalding on the River Medway on the 9th of July. This is a trip that totals just over 8 miles. Perfectly suitable for most adult beginners this river trip is made more enjoyable by the 7 canoe shoots we need to navigate on our journey. The faint hearted amongst us have the opportunity to avoid any of the canoe shoots on this journey. Most children would be suitable too as the trip gets broken down into short journeys between shoots. You adults know your children, some children are more tenacious than others......
We would aim to meet at Tonbridge for 10am. After doing the shuttle to Yalding aim to be on the river by 11.30am. Arriving in Yalding mid afternoon. Please bring packed lunches and plenty of drinks and snacks to last you the day.
This trip is open to all skillsets. Feel free to text or call me on 07902 429 847 to discuss anything regarding the trip. Full details of the trip will be posted once I have enough interested people signed up for going.
Please reply on this forum so I can gauge interest.
Yours
Tony Holloway

A total of 11 members took part in this trip with many not paddled the 8 miles from Tonbridge to Yalding or negotiated the 6 canoe chutes before.
First chute at Tonbridge was easily shot
as was Eldridge
with Dale looking as worried as ever…
As we continued on to the next chute we paused to admire an entry for this year's Turner Prize for Modern Art...
Although the chutes become more challenging, paddlers soon adapted.
Sunday lunch was taken at East Lock
Then back down the chutes!
and judging by Gary's expression, getting caught out and wishing he packed an extra set of underwear…
We eventually reached Yalding unfortunately not much water in the weir but most of us were too tired to play.
Despite a fine shower for most of the day, this was a good well organised trip and special thanks to Tony for not only organising it but also for transport!
Thanks also to the drivers for doing the shuttle.

I can't see any pictures of me on the water! Really enjoyed the trip, thanks to all drivers.
