Had a conversation with EA engineers working on The Medway weirs. The guys warned us that after the work of installing canoe passes and other canoeing facilities, the EA will be undertaking a crack down on BCU / Medway licences. We would therefore suggest that if you are a BCU member and are paddling at Yalding you take with you your BCU card to avoid any further discussions. If you’re not a BCU member then its your decision if you choose to either paddle without a licence and enjoy a debate with the EA, or either join the BCU, or purchase a personal Medway licence.
